14 Months Old and 2 Months As a Family

So as of this past Sunday...Hsin is 14 months old and we have been a family for a whopping 2 months. Holy cow does it feel longer than that. I can't really remember when she wasn't here. I feel like I know her so well, it can't only have been 2 months ago that we first met. She is seriously the coolest little person on the planet...and she lives with us now and is OUR family. WOW!

Some Hsin "stuff" at 14 months:
-she plays on the floor while we make dinner. She whines a little, but plays with plastic cups, ice cube trays...basically whatever is in the drying rack at the time to stay entertained. It makes making dinner SO much easier.
-LOVES sweets. She eats cookies, donuts, honey buns...anything sweet. We let her eat it all because she is still TOO skinny!
-LOVES her cousin Maudee who carries her around SO proud that Hsin is her baby cousin.
-has pretty much given up the binky. School still gives it to her at naptime, and we do at bedtime, but we are not sure if she uses it or not. She does not have it all day, and she doesn't seem to care.
-her relationship with Shiu has reached new heights. The two are inseperable. I think school has really helped them bond. Hsin's face lights up when she sees him and she holds him with a death grip. She endlessly gives him hugs and kisses, and bites his ears and tail. She hugs him all night, and if she shifts position in her sleep, she shifts him too. When we wake her up in the morning she is wrapped around him with her head on his body like a pillow. With the current cold...Shiu is covered in boogers. Awesome!
-She holds on and stands up a lot more than last month.
-she throws her animals out of her crib at naptime.
-the crew that sleeps in her crib is: Shiu the mouse, Beeps the cat, the pink striped sock bunny Mommy made, the pink terrycloth bunny from Grandpa and Nona, the giraffe, Pickles the black cat, and the big woolley mammoth. Yup...its a big crew, but we love them.
-she talks non-stop at home and in the car. just yammering, singing and talking. When she wakes up in the morning or at naptime she sits and talks to the animals in her crib for a good 30 minutes. Sometimes she gets very serious and shakes her hands while she talks. She looks like she is preaching.
-she claps her hands, rocks back and forth and waves her hands around to music. She sometimes will shake her hiney to music too. She mostly loves rap and hip-hop.
-she has started to wave hello and bye-bye. Usually her hands are backwards though so she is really waving to herself.
-her teachers think she is the sweetest kid in her class. She eats well, and when she isn't sleeping at naptime, she sits quietly on her mat and plays with Shiu.
-she loves goldfish crackers. We had to buy mini ones since she packs them in her mouth.
-she has finally started to drink out of a cup but will not even attempt to hold it. Her teachers and we need to hold the cup for her to drink from it.
-she did wonderfully on her first night being fed dinner and put to bed by Grandma! She even freaked Grandma out a little because she went right to sleep without making a sound.

That's all I can remember right now.
With going back to work, there are fewer pictures, but I will try to do better next month.
Here is what I have though.

Hsin Updates and My Love

Hsin continues to do awesome at school. She really does like it, and I think she is making strides with becoming more vocal, and a little more mobile from being in that environment!

She did however come down with her first runny nose this Sunday. The first of many I know! Pauly actually picked her up early from school yesterday so she could sleep well at home for her nap (almost 3 hours), and she slept like the DEAD last night. Not so much as a peep out of her for 12 hours. I actually went into work an hour later than usual so I could let her sleep until she woke up at about 7:45. That made for a much happier Hsin this morning. She was still runny and congested, but otherwise acting herself. She was dancing in the car to her Chinese children's songs and played with her animals in her crib when she first woke up. We have not gotten any calls from school, and naptime ended about 45 minutes ago...so we are assuming all is well. Poor kid has no appitite and is sure to have lost some weight (and she had none to spare).

Now that I am back at work, the pictures are going to suffer I am sorry to say. I promise we will take some this weekend!

-------------------------
I did want to mention a certain someone else special in my life on this blog. Although Hsin is my sweet little daughter, and I love her to pieces...my Pauly is still my most special "big" person.

To say I love this man would be an understatement.
To say he is the love of my life would be not telling the whole story.
To say that he is the most amazing, loving, and caring person on the planet would be selling him short.

It literally brings tears to my eyes to think about how lucky I am to have been given this man to spend my life with. To think about how I would live without him in my life terrifies me. The hardest part about becoming a parent hasn't been the long nights, or the screaming, or any of that usual baby stuff...it has been losing time with my Pauly.

The unwaving support, compassion and love he shows me, and now Hsin-Hua, never ceases to amaze me. It comes so naturally to him to just give of himself when it comes to the two of us.

I am truly the luckiest woman on the earth to have this man as my husband and as the father of my daughter.

I love you Pauly, with all my heart!

First LONG Day At School

Yesterday was Hsin's first longer day at school. It still wasn't a full day but she went from 7:30-3, which included naptime.

They said that when they went for a walk in the big baby buggy...the boy next to her fell asleep and was leaning on her shoulder. They said that Hsin rubbed his head the whole time. I guess she has her first boyfriend and his name is Vinny!

She slept for 40 minutes on her mat, and sat quietly like a good girl for the rest of naptime. The nap was short, so she was tired and fell asleep in the stroller while I ran, but not bad for her first time :-)

It was fantastic to be back at work. I missed Hsin and thought about her a lot during the day...but it felt SO normal to be at work. It feels like our normal life and routine is coming together...and that feels really good.

No pictures today...sorry.

Eagles Season And A New Car

Well the Eagles regular season started today and Hsin was ready. She had her Westbrook jersey on, her Eagles socks, and her football hairbow, binky clip, and even Shiu had on his football leash.

AND...Yesterday Daddy bought Hsin her first car...and it is a BMW :-) Just like Daddy's.

After Hsin wakes up we are going to the town's jazz festival, and then Grandma is coming over for dinner. Tomorrow Hsin goes to school until 3pm which includes naptime...ON A MAT!!! And Mommy goes to work until about 1:30! Wish us all luck that this week goes well with our new routine. I'm a little nervous.
Have a great week!

School, Big Cousin Maudee And Other Updates

Below are some pics of Hsin from this past weekend and week.

Maudee came over this past Sunday and slept over until Monday. She and Hsin were instant best friends. Maudee was so sweet and loving to Hsin it was amazing to see. Maudee was the closest thing we had to a daughter for the last 3 years and it was SO awesome to see her and our daughter finally together! At the bbq at Maudee's house on Monday she carried Hsin around and told everyone "this is my baby cousin and I love her and she loves me". TOO CUTE!!! I didn't get enough pictures of the two of them together. Next time.

Hsin started school part time this week. We went 2 hours the first day, 3.5 hours the next day, and 4 hours today. She did fantastic and didn't cry too much her teachers said. She ate her breakfast all 3 days, and the two days she stayed for lunch she ate all of it, and even 2 helpings of veggies. She LOVES her veggies!!! Her teacher said that Hsin is one of her favorite kids already!!!

Next week Hsin will go to school through naptime Monday -Thursday. Mommy is going to go to work while she is there. I am excited to go back (and I little nervous about staying organized and on top of everything once I am back to work). Part time will be a good transition. I think we will work that schedule for two weeks. I then want to see if I can then work 4 day work weeks for the rest of the year to use up the rest of my FMLA. I think school is good for Hsin and work will be good for me. I know I will miss Hsin...but working and my job is in my blood...I need it back.

Paul and I bought a video monitor last night. We had a $50 store credit and I found one for only $100...so it wasn't too bad. We REALLY wanted to know what she was doing in there when we hear noises on the monitor, or when she is talking to herself. Last night we didn't see too much. She hugged and kissed the mouse for a few minutes and then slept through the night. Naptime though...she is sleeping right now...well the first 45 minutes she was up there, where before I thought she was sleeping because she was quiet...yeah...she isn't. She is silently screwing around, playing with her animals, standing up and dancing at the side of the crib and throwing half her animals out of the crib. After 45 minutes she finally just laid down and went to sleep. TOO FUNNY! This video monitor was SO worth the money. I can't wait for tomorrow so Pauly can watch her little show in the afternoon :-)

Yesterday Hsin and I went to visit my friend Alli and her son Jackson. The kids had a great time playing together and were so good while the Mom's got Chinese and Sushi for lunch. It was great to see Alli and catch up...and we are going to have a sleep over playdate for college homecoming next month!!! We can't wait!

Well, that is about it for now. Sunday the Eagles play their first real season game so Hsin is ready with her Eagles Jersey. Stay tuned for picks of the little Chinese Eagles fan :-)

Why Do We Buy Diapers?

So the cats have boxes to play in of course!!!We also took the follwoing picture to use to embarrass Hsin when she is older.

These are the WORST PJ's ever. They are thermal underwear...and I bought them like 2 years ago because they were literally like $1. Add an undershirt and a pair of socks that go up to her knees and they make good PJ's that are a fashion TRAIN WRECK!!!

I think this picture will be pulled out when her first boyfriend comes over to meet us :-)
Oh...and the waist of the pants is right under her armpit She even knows she looks like a mess...look at her face!

My Personal Trainer (And Her Assistant)

Everyday Hsin (and Shiu) go running with me.
They are a great personal training crew!
Rockin the velour sweatsuit!Hsin was afraid I couldn't see Shiu for the picture so she held him up to be SURE he made the shot.
Later tonight, Daddy was kissing Hsin goodbye as we left to have dinner at a friends house...and everytime he gave her a kiss...she held out Shiu so Daddy could kiss him too.
It has become very apparent that we have a child who LOVES Hip-Hop and Rap music. She freaks out in the car and starts bopping her head, swinging her hands around and laughing and giggling any time it comes on the radio. Daddy is THRILLED!!!!!

Here is one last pic of Hsin to wrap up the post. This is the usual look on Hsin's face :-)
